Press Release
Potent purveyors of fine music, the Dana Wylie Band, in Asia since their last UK tour in September '08, are
hitting the motorways again, and will be playing at the Jolly Brewer in Lincoln on Saturday, May 9th, and The Voodoo Lounge in Stamford on Friday May 29th. They are a veteran road band, having played nearly 300 shows on three continents in the last four years. They are favourites of the area, as this is the fifth time they'll bring their unique blend of roots, blues, folk and rock to the Jolly Brewer.
Dana Wylie is a singer of rare gift and a dedicated crafter of deeply felt and sharply observed songs. She and her band, Jeremy Hellard (drums/harmonica/vocals/guitar), Matthew Ord (guitar, vocals), and Nye Parsons (double bass), could all easily stand alone as solo performers; when they come together, they effortlessly create a sound which is greater than the sum of its parts and has been described by critics as 'incredible', 'ground-breaking', 'tight and expressive', and 'the genuine article'.
The band, formed in 2005, has released two self-produced albums, Almost There...(2006) and The Unruly Ones (2008), which received glowing reviews in the Canadian press and charted on specialty radio stations across the country. But it is their exquisite live show, described by one reviewer as 'ridiculously good', in which their ever-growing reputation is firmly rooted. They are not to be missed.
The Dana Wylie Band play The Jolly Brewer, 27 Broadgate, Lincoln, Saturday, May 9th, 9pm, and The Voodoo Lounge, 9A North Street, Stamford, Friday, May 29th, 9pm.
